TraceAir Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Maria Khokhlova, joined Casey Grey of The Conscious Builder Show to discuss how cutting-edge technology like TraceAir is changing the future for land developers, homebuilders, and construction executives. Maria shares insight into the history of TraceAir and how the company’s founders fell in love with the land development industry.
On the topic of land development, Maria explains how traditional methods of tracking progress and dirt movement are obsolete. “Traditionally, teams relied on a single topo made in the beginning of the project for all their takeoffs and planning. This doesn't work because projects are changing constantly, and teams need a way to make adjustments as they go”, shared Maria. “TraceAir’s ability to provide regular progress updates in a cheap and practical way, and in an easy-to-use format that the whole team can use, is a really big thing.”
Casey and Maria discuss how dirt movement on a project site can quickly become an expensive problem. "It sounds so simple," Maria said, "but you never really know what you will find under the ground or how the soil will bulk or shrink until you start digging and moving the dirt. In most cases, the dirt does not behave as expected. All of a sudden, you can quickly need to import or export dirt, costing your project a lot of money”.
